Is Google Cloud available in China?
Google Cloud has no region inside mainland China, and Google says so directly: traffic destined for mainland China "is served from Google locations outside of mainland China", with performance and reliability lower than for in-country traffic. There is no Google Cloud equivalent of AWS China or Azure China to move to. Beyond latency, a great deal of the Google surface — Fonts, Analytics, Tag Manager, Maps, reCAPTCHA — is unreliable in the mainland, so pages that merely reference Google services degrade even when the application itself is hosted elsewhere. In-country delivery is the fix, and it carries an ICP filing with it. Measured fact: from a probe inside mainland China (Alibaba Cloudcn-zhangjiakou), three runs, 2026-08-27, cloud.google.com itself did not finish loading within 60 seconds on any of the three attempts. Across our census we requested twelve Google-owned properties from a probe inside mainland China (Alibaba Cloud cn-zhangjiakou), three times each on 2026-08-28. Eleven of the twelve produced no response at all — not a slow response, no first byte in any attempt. ISSUES WITH GOOGLE CLOUD IN CHINA
