In 2007, Baidu became the first Chinese company to be included in the NASDAQ-100 index. It is currently the sixth largest website and one of the world’s most significant AI and Internet companies.
Besides a Chinese search engine, Baidu offers various services, such as a mapping service called Baidu Maps, a Cloud Storage service called Baidu Wangpan, and a query-based search community called Baidu Baike (akin to Wikipedia), etc.
How To Get Started On Baidu
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) in China are very different from those in the rest of the world, especially the technical and legal requirements. Because Google is completely blocked in China due to its reluctance to comply with the Chinese government’s regulations regarding censorship, 75% of all local searches are done on Baidu, the leading Chinese search engine, and other local China-specific search engines.
